Applying Project-Based-Learning to improve English speaking skills of remote learners at tertiary education

English speaking skills are important in global communication and interaction. To speak effectively at an acceptable level for a non-native speaker, various sub-skills considered such as lexical resources, grammatical structures, pronunciation, rhythm, intonation, the like. Nevertheless, vast number of remote learners Ho Chi Minh City Open University (HCMCOU) seemed to struggle representing their thoughts sub-skills. Thus, this study aims explore challenges encountered by learners, effectiveness Project-Based Learning (PBL) applied teaching online, learners’ attitudes towards project. do this, mixed research method was employed. Twenty-two participated responding survey questionnaire, five them were randomly selected interview depth. The finding shows that most had problems sub-skills, inadequate environments practice, communication, Also, PBL is found unique enables solve existing problems, improve skills, all expressed positive learning process.
